Manufacturing companies with multiple stores — raw material store, WIP store, finished goods warehouse, and satellite locations — struggle to get an accurate picture of total inventory without running physical counts.

Store keepers miss reorder points for slow-moving items or items with many variants, causing production delays when critical materials run out unexpectedly.

When materials are issued from the store to the production floor, the transaction is often recorded on paper or not at all, making it impossible to track actual material consumption against the BOM.

In manual operations, store keepers often issue the most accessible stock regardless of purchase date or expiry, violating FIFO or FEFO principles and increasing the risk of using expired or old materials.

Annual or periodic physical stock counts are manual, error-prone exercises. Reconciling physical counts against book stock takes days and variances are often written off without investigation.

Quality issues or customer complaints require the ability to trace exactly which raw material batch was used in which production batch and where it was shipped. Without a system, this is impossible.

Slow-moving or obsolete inventory consumes working capital and storage space, but it is rarely reviewed systematically because generating such reports from spreadsheets is time-consuming.

Packaging materials — cartons, labels, liners, straps — are consumed rapidly but tracked loosely. Shortages cause finished goods to sit in the warehouse unchecked, delaying dispatch.
